Here's to a new school year

Tif loves her son-in-law.
(Trav LOVES Nutella.)

7 years down, 2 semesters to go!!!
Travis could be half way through medical school, but he is really just enjoying being a super senior.
We (especially Trav) are VERY excited for him to be finished with school.
"What are your plans once Travis is finished with school", you ask?
...Still trying to figure that out actually.

Here is what Alex would love:
Travis gets a job he loves, good pay, great benefits, decent hours. Buy our first house. Preferably in either: St. George, Las Vegas, or a not so busy California city close to the beach.

Here is what Travis would love:
Something I love, where ever, no snow.

That's a little peak into our plans. So, where will we be?
Who knows at this point. But we will keep you updated!

This past weekend we got to go to beautiful Lake Powell.
Travis' buddy Dehn works for a company called Vacation Races
They focus their races on gorgeous destination locations, usually state parks.
The Lake Powell half marathon will be on October 19th, so come check it out!
Dehn films a promo video for each race that features the area.
We like to tag along and help out.

We left Friday night, got to our campsite at 1am, and slept out under the stars. After sleeping for 4 hours we awoke to a long eventful day which started with getting a shot of the sunrise.
We then headed over to the lake to get some action shots of our actors.

For those of you that don't know Travis, he is all about getting the perfect shot.
It's what makes him the best at what he does.
He will do anything for a "money" shot, as he calls it.
On this trip, it was hanging out of a moving car.
Which to Travis is no big deal.

One park ranger drove by and quickly ran us down. Travis continued to get his perfect shot, hanging out of the car, until we came to a complete stop. And yes, one park ranger pulled us over. But of course he needed back up and a 2nd and 3rd opinion before taking my husband to the state park jail.
Just kidding,
it was only a ticket.

We rented a boat with a wake board and a kayak to feature some fun things you can do while you're at the lake. We were sailing some rough seas, which doesn't make for good shots or even being able to get out and wake board. It was also some what stressful lugging along $10,000+ worth of equipment onto a boat, surrounded by water, crashing into waves... But we had a good time and were able to get better shots of things we originally didn't plan on getting. After a long day of boating we headed over to Horse Shoe Bend.

It was awe inspiring! And so magnificent!
We just stood there for a few minutes, blown away at the size, design, and overall look of the thing.
This is why apple made panoramic features on their phones.
It was a super short little hike down to this beauty, which was nice seeing as how we were still not finished getting all the shots we wanted. By this point I felt like I had been away and awake for a week,
we had been all over the place in just one day!

We got some great shots of a pink and purple painted sky,
our actors biking, and continued on to a BBQ feast.

What. A. Day.

Labor Day

What a weekend! Saturday morning my
Mom and Sister
showed up on our doorstep! We were very happy to see them, and pretty darn excited for all the adventures that were going to happen the next couple-a days.

We went to one of Travis' and my FAVORITE Mexican restaurants,
Blue Pablano! They don't have a website, so here is their urbanspoon page: Blue Pablano

Our favorites: Al Pastor Taco and Steak Quesadilla.

After a delicious lunch and a great catch up, we headed back to our house to get ready for a
Las Vegas reunion party.
It was a fun night! We were so grateful to have my Mom and Sisters help, they are the best.

Here is a little peek at the decorations...
Movie treat "bar".

We had some trouble with the racquet ball net...

The mouthwatering dessert bar.
It was lots of fun to see old friends and introduce Travis to them.
We look forward to having more reunions!

The next morning consisted of; church, dinner, going on a beautiful Sunday walk. There is never a dull moment when you get Travis, my Mom, and Sister together! We walked to a cemetery that over looked the valley. It's a cemetery, right? So we tried to be quiet and respectful... Until Travis and Kinzy set their hearts on catching a bunny. They were actually pretty cute, not wild rabbits by any means, just nice and fluffy, and hundreds of them! Travis claims that the parents who get their children baby bunnies for Easter take them up to this cemetery and let them go.  It was a hoot watching Travis and Kinzy try to sneak up on the bunnies, then break out into a mad dash to grab one as the bunny caught on to what was happening and then started to frolic. Yes, Frolic. No Meadows 9th ward Young Women, not the frolicking we did at girls camp with glow sticks painted on our faces like war paint many many years ago.

--Picture a big fluff gracefully scampering away in a jiff. --

Travis finally caught one (with the master's help, me). We cornered it, picked it up and I quickly realized that we needed to take this bunny home with us so we could practice being parents. Of course Travis said no, and quickly let it free. **Note: no bunnies were harmed in the making of our Sunday funday.**
Giving Travis a true Arabic dis.

A surprise booty bump. Which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Happy, happy, happy
A 5'7+ tire.
We returned home, got ready for bed, all cuddled and watched 500 days of summer. Travis and I LOVE Zooey Deschanel (who is the main character in 500 days of summer, along with Travis' other love, Joseph Gordon Leavitt. But Travis' likes to call him J.G.L., like they are best friends or something...)
We are currently watching the first season of New Girl. It is absolutely hilarious!

The next morning we headed off to do our regular shopping trip, which Travis actually enjoys (only when it's with my Mom and Sister).

We then headed to a restaurant we really like, Thai Village. It's this weird Pioneer looking place with hand carts in front? Regardless of how it looks, it is deeeelectable.
Here is their website: Thai Village

Our favorites: Pineapple Curry, Beef Pad Thai and Spring Rolls
Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Labor day, more importantly a day off!
